General Information
  • Private Marriage Commissioners are individuals who are appointed under the Marriage Act of British Columbia for the purpose of performing Civil Ceremonies.
  • Civil Marriage ceremonies may be performed at any reasonable location and time mutually agreed upon between You and the Marriage Commissioner.
  • Two witnesses must be arranged by the couple being married.
  • Marriage Commissioners provide a public service to the community and are not in the business of wedding planning. Should you wish to meet with a Marriage Commissioner please contact the individual directly by email or telephone.
  • Please note: Marriage Commissioners are appointed to provide services in the community where they reside. Should you be unable to retain the services of a Marriage Commissioner, please contact Vital Statistics at 250 952-2681.
